I am running an iMac 2011, Intel i5, 2.5ghz, 12g RAM, 500G HD, (OS 10.10.2) and am having no luck getting AirDrop to recognize my iPod Touch 5 32g ios 8.1.3. Bluetooth 4.3.2 and WiFi are both functioning. I have Googled the problem and seen other posts who have had the problem months ago; but haven't been able to find an answer why it will not work. Hoping there might be a helpful answer here.

That iMac model can only use AirDrop with a different Mac; it won't be able to see iOS devices in AirDrop.

Thank you for responding so promptly. I was hoping that the answer would be different, in that I am using the latest OS on each device. Perhaps Apple will engineer a way to for it to recognize other iOS devices along with with other iMacs. I do really appreciate your response. Keep up the good work! Jim Marshall
