Apple products aren't appearing on Computer

I am trying to get the images off my iPhone 5s and iPad mini, but they are not being recognised on my computer, but they are recognised on iTunes and work fine there. When I go into device manager it recognises that it is an iPhone or iPad, but there is a '!' next to them and it says there is a driver missing for the device (code 28). I have searched online for ages and can't find any type of driver and I have tried all of what apple have said about products not being recognised. I have tried updating the driver through the online option and through the folders on my computer, but it never works.

it just says this...

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

There is nothing wrong with my products because when I plug them into another laptop they appear in computer perfectly fine and I can access the images there, but I want to be able to easily put them on my own laptop.

I use windows 8.1

Please can someone help me figure out what is wrong with my laptop.

Thank you.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3, null

Have you looked here?

iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows

iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

Look towards the end of that page:

Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed

iOS devices require Apple Mobile Device Support, which should be automatically installed with iTunes. To verify whether it is installed, follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.

Windows 8

  1. Move the cursor to the upper-right corner and click the magnifying glass.
  2. Type Control Panel, and press Return.
  3. Click "Uninstall a program."
  4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.

If Apple Mobile Device Support isn't listed, remove iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Application Support, then reinstall iTunes.

If you reinstall iTunes, and Apple Mobile Device Support still isn't installed, you can resolve issues installing iTunes for Windows.
