Although 4G and LTE signal are available in my area, and my settings are set to receive LTE, my phone only picks up 3G. I should also mention that I've tried it in and out of the case with no change.
Any Idea?

If you're in an area that has 4G and LTE coverage, but your iPhone 5 only has a 3G cellular data connection, I recommend going through the troubleshooting tips at this link:

For a situation like this, you may want to try each step, and then test your data connection in a few different settings.
