iPad air 2 battery drains when not being used...

iI've had this iPad Air 2 simce it came out, but this week my iPad dies when nothing's on. I leave to work and it's 100%, 8 hours later it's at 43% and it was in sleep mode with no background apps on. What's going on? Is it defective?

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 8.1.3

There may be things running that you don't think is running. Such as background app update and background app refresh. Look for those.

Look at the notification center and see what's in there. The default is for every app that has them to go into the notification center and there may be things running that you don't realize are running.
