switching from iBooks to another app looses your place

When I switch from iBooks to another app, iBooks looses my place - where I was reading and even the iBook I was using.

Each time I launch iBooks it switches to a book I was reading months ago, no matter what book I was reading last. After I select a new book, then begin reading, then switch to another app -- my browser, for instance -- then switch back to iBooks, it's replaced what I was reading with a book I read a week or two ago.

Anyone else experiencingthese weird and frustrating habits of iBooks?
