Why is my apple password not being recognized?

I'm not sure I'm posting this in the correct Community but it was the only one I could actually choose that made sense. Some one please explain to me why, every time I put in my apple password, it won't take it. I used to think I forgot my password but this has happened several times. It won't even take my new password I created. Please help.
