need to read score of previous track; not one being recorded

If i record one track I can view the score which is useful to see while recording the next track. But when i try recording a new track the score jumps to show me the score of what i am now recording(which is now useless as i can't see what i recorded before and whats coming up. Is there a way to record a new track whilst CHOOSING which track I see the score of and have that scrolling whilst I'm recording the new one. Any help would be much appreciated.
