sound problem with ATV

I have a Sharp 60" Smart HDTV that is connected to a Yamaha receiver via HDMI, also connected is a Yamaha 5.1 speaker system. When I watch TV via DirecTV the sound is excellent. If I watch NetFlix or Hulu Plus through the Sharp apps on the television the sound is still excellent. The problem is using AppleTV, no matter if it's iTunes movies or television, or Netflix, Hulu Plus or any of the other apps the sound seems muddy or muffled. We have a hard time understanding the dialog. It seems the low end is exaggerated. This only happens when watching through the AppleTV.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions for fixing it?

Hi Mario, Thanks for the suggestion. Ituyrned Dolby OFF and set the audio to 16 bit, that seems to help. The sound is still a little heavy of the bass side. While watching regular TV or a channel on the SMART Sharp TV it's fine. Only when using the ATV is there a problem. The suggestions in the article you recommended have helped.
