iTunes fails to detect iPhone and iPad

iTunes (12.1.0.50) on Macbook Pro and Yosemite, failed to detect my devices iPhone6 and iPad even though they are on the same network. Similarly Bluetooth is unable to pair despite the devices being side by side

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

It sounds like you are connecting your iPhone and iPad to your comptuer with Mac OS X 10.10 and they aren't being seen in iTunes. And as far as the bluetooth pairing between two iOS devices that is not currently a supported function. To help with your devices not being seen iTunes, I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in this article to help you out there:
