I am looking to get rid of One Drive and go full time with iCloud Drive, but here is my situation every piece of propaganda states you can now save all types of Doc.s in iCloud drive but how to you either preview (look at) pdf files or Apple preveiw files on like your iPad without using so many different apps? Can some one point me in the right direction?

Many iCloud Drive file types sent as attachments to yourself can be viewed by Quick Look in iOS Mail, including:
• .doc, .docx — Microsoft Word
• .htm, .html — webpage
• .key — Keynote
• .numbers — Numbers
• .pages — Pages
• .pdf — Preview, Adobe Acrobat
• .ppt, .pptx — Microsoft PowerPoint
• .rtf — Rich Text Format
• .txt — text
• .vcf — contact information
• .xls, .xlsx — Microsoft Excel
• .zip — compressed archive file
There is even an "Attachments" mailbox where all messages containing attachments are collected for viewing.
As of yet there is no dedicated iCloud Drive app from Apple. However, there are third-party apps to fill the gap such as the document viewer, file manager, and media player Documents 5 by Readdle.
Worth mentioning is that if you navigate to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage, you can view a list of files (Documents & Data) organized by app. Although you can delete files in this modality, you can't preview them.
Update: coming to iOS 9 is a dedicated iCloud Drive app. Switched on in Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Show on Home Screen.
