How can I update Safari 5.1?

Many website won't support this version and ask me to update. I don't really need to pay to update my entire OS.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Safari is a part of OS X and the only way to get a newer version is to upgrade.

Try Firefox or Chrome and stop using That old version of Safari.

OK, thanks. I'd consider this a fault in the way Apple packages its software. Other aspects of OSX don't go out of date, but that's not the case with a browser. I guess it's over to Firefox for me.
