Iphone 5 screen not working when charging

Hello

I have have noticed when I am charging my iPhone 5 my screen is quite unrespomsive compared to when not charging. I have taken the phone off charge and the screen works fine so I can only assume that this is the issue here. Please note this issue has only arisen after updating to iOS 8.1.3
