How do you skip forwards/backwards in iTunes when using another app?

Basically I'm transcribing in TextEdit the contents of a voice memo that I've got open in iTunes. I frequently need to go back 5-10 seconds to check what I heard, but currently I have to switch to iTunes and use cmd + option + left arrow to do this. Is there a shortcut that I can use that doesn't require switching back to iTunes?

When I use that shortcut in TextEdit I just get that generic 'nope' boop noise.
