4 copies of the report is a bit of overkill. The only item I see that might be contributing to the slowdown is Carbonite. If it's backing up all the time to the clouds that could be a factor. Try not launching it at boot time and run for a while to see if there's any improvement. If so then just run it at the end of the day when you're not working heavily on the Mac.

Are you backing up your iPhoto Library with Carbonite to the cloud? You do know that you won't be able to recover a working library as there are no cloud backup services that backup to servers formatted OS X Extended (journaled) which iPhoto requires.

Just a heads up.

Mar 6, 2015 5:28 PM in response to Old Toad

sorry for the overkill, I couldn't see that it worked so I tried several times. When I came back in and saw that, I tried to delete, but apparently that didn't work either

A few months back I was working on this and we eliminated Carbonite, I uninstalled it and used a backup drive. I really didn't see improvement while Carbonite was gone. I'm at a loss.

But thanks anyway.

Mar 7, 2015 8:40 AM in response to dnall244

Google software also is known to slow performance. You might turn off Google drive for a bit and see if there's any improvement.

Launch Activity Monitor and monitor the CPU usage during your normal work day. See if any particular process or app is hogging CPUs.

Give this a try: boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and repair both the disk permissions and the disk. Reboot normally.

Adding additional RAM will help. Apple now offers 8 GB as the default minimal amount of RAM on most all new Macs. However, the report doesn't show any excessive RAM usage, i.e. Page-outs so that would be a last resort sort of thing.

Have you tried Firefox and see if it experiences the same slowness? Worth a test.
