Iphone 6 plus screen does not work during calls

Iphone 6 plus screen does not work during calls any ideas as to what could be wrong?

i have taken all protective cases off to see if they were interfering with any sensor but it still doesnt work it leaves me unable to answer calls when someone rings me and also i can not put the phone down after calling someone without locking the phone
