I have a iPad 1 or 2 and I can not download any apps at all as it still has iOS 5 but when I try to update it says no update found

Then you have an iPad 1 (the original) this cannot be updated beyond 5.1.1
A first generation iPad can't be updated past 5.1.1.

If it does not have camera, then its a First Generation iPad and cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1.
It does have a camera thank you for your comments I thought that would be the case why is this?
If it does have a camera, then its at least an iPad 2 and should be able to be updated to iOS 8.
If it won't update directly on the device, you might want to try updating through iTunes on a computer.
