Adding cancellation .ics files to calendar 8.0 is not cancelling the event as in Calendar 6.0

I have events added from .ics attachment email files.

In this environment: OS x 10.8.5 and Calendar 6.0 (1648) when you open an ics file containing a Cancellation, the event is either removed from the calendar or marked like this User uploaded file

In OSX Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C109) and Calendar Version 8.0 (2032.6.1) when you open an ics file containing a Cancellation, nothing happens. The event remains there, it's not being updated either.

Does anyone know how to achieve this? Is this a known issue?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
