Safari can't connect to xxxx.com because safari can't connect to xxxx.com server

Hi y'all,

So, every time I try to connect to the internet, safari doesn't connect to the server. I have tried different places' wifi, as well as different websites. Nothing worked. I also reset safari and cleared all browsing data, as well as turned off all extensions. Still nothing. Now, I turned off my computer and started it in safe mode by holding the shift at the same time as the power, and again at the log in screen. Now, I can access the internet, but it's slow because it's in safe mode. What does this mean? And how do I fix it on regular mode?

Thanks

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
