I purchased 3 apps and the total is $2.97, but i only have $2 left in my credit card, what should i do to pay the extra $0.97 ?

You are lucky the system didn't catch that this is a store bought debit card and let you buy anything at all. You need to purchase an iTunes gift card and redeem it to finish your purchase. If not, your account will be jammed up.
