phantom installer

Dear Friends,

Every time I shutdown I get a dialog box asking me if I want to continue as installation. It doesn't say what it is for. Is there a way stop this?

It started shortly after I installed the Kindle app for reading on my laptop. The Kindle app installation came with a variety crapware that it also wanted me to install. Perhaps there is an incomplete installation going on for some of the crapware? Can I kill all installations?

Thanks for your help.

FYI: I found the answer on the internet. It was an ad app called Genieo. Go Library/LauchAgents/ and remove anything that says "genieo' after that the dialog disappeared and the mysterious installer in my Activity Monitor was gone.

Yes, Genieo is a huge resource hog on Mac for zero benefit.

You should run AdwareMedic

http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

to make sure you have removed everything.

You might also want to run EtreCheck

<https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174>

and check the lists of 3rd party additions you have running on your system (if any residual Genieo is still on the system EtreCheck will list it).
