Going to go from snow leopard to yosemite. I thinking about taking the computer to an apple store and paying a genius to do it. Am I just being a ***** or is it worth the peace of mind having a pro push a few buttons for me?
You're probably better off doing it yourself. Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before proceeding.

I'd like to add make sure your imac has AT LEAST 4gb of ram and 8gb is better.
Thank you Mike. I do have 4gb of ram. Now I am wondering if upgrading to Mavericks would provide less problems.
Unless you downloaded the full Mavericks installer before Yosemite came out, it isn't possible to upgrade to it. If it matters, the possibility of running into trouble would be about the same.
