i need to search several thousand pdfs and word docs for a specific term. How do you do this with Spotlight?

I have a Mac Air with OSX Yosemite.

I cannot figure out how to search using spotlight.

I have several thousand pdfs and word docs.

I need to find every doc that contains a specific search term.

How do you do that?

It used to be easy on my last mac....

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Consider using command-F in Finder, which gives a more powerful search tool. Spotlight is really better suited to quick, simple searches.

Or see if you can find the file using this program. If you go Finder/View/Show Path Bar, it will show you where it is located.
