finder not launching once clicked

SO ive been using my mac as normal today, i stopped using it for about half an hour then decided to access a folder so i clicked on finder but it woldnt open, i tried restaring my mac, relaunching finder by holding option and relaunching but nothing, when i click on finder it does say finder on the top of my screen but no finder task bar with my folder etcc, may also be worth stating that I did do the latest update about an 24 hours ago
