Now that iPhoto doesn't work, are there any of its features available as add-ons to Photos? I'm thinking specifically of the oil and watercolor effects that one could apply to his images.

Of course I realized there were tons of apps available, but I was looking for suggestions so I wouldn't waste my time running down dead end streets. Your suggestions help. Brushstroke is all set up of IOS 8, so I think I'll go with that.

I'm glad I asked, your profile only lists a Mac. I never used iPhoto so you'll have to check the App Store to see if there is something similar For the effects you want.
There are hundreds of photo editing apps in the app store. There are probably dozens which do that kind of effect. Search around. I'm sure you'll find several that meet your needs.
I've played with brushstroke a couple of times and I think you'll like it. it sounds like it'll do what you want it to do
Yeah there are many apps in the app store that will do the same if not more.
