I received the email originally to my iPad. The email has a Whats app message. It then seems to send email out to your contacts. How do you fix this?

It's spam. Delete it.
An e-mail cannot take any action on its own. That e-mail is a phishing e-mail - if you click the link it provides, and then provide the password on what looks like a login page for your e-mail account, then you have provided your password to the scammers. They will use that password to access your e-mail and send spam. The fix, in this case, is to change the password on your e-mail account.
