Mar 7, 2015 3:43 AM in response to provolutionby Gary Scotland,This happens to me, only if I change the order of the first build, if I change anything else the first build is not changed. There is no setting to change this.
Previous and the latest version of Keynote do not have this issue.

Mar 7, 2015 5:05 AM in response to Gary Scotlandby provolution,Thanks for the answer Gary. Unfortunately, this happens in my version whichever build number I change. The first build always defaults to 'on click'. You think it's only the 6.6.2 version though?

Mar 7, 2015 5:30 AM in response to provolutionby Gary Scotland,I use Keynote 5.3, 6.2.2 and 6.5.2 and its only 6.2.2 that has this issue.
For me its not much of a problem, however, it would be worth resetting Keynote:
Delete Keynote from Applications folder > restart the Mac > re-install Keynote from Mac App Store.

May 29, 2016 7:22 PM in response to Gary Scotlandby d9w,I have this issue too.
Whenever I rearrange any animations at all, it causes the first one on the slide to revert back to 'on click'. It amounts to an extra step to every edit.
Tried re-installing Keynote (thanks Gary!) but alas, the problem is still exhibited identically.
Seems like this is just how it's designed (?) Hope it's fixed in a future update! It certainly doesn't seem an advantageous setting...
