Can't publish my iWeb site to dot mac

A couple of weeks ago I was able to publish a password protected web site to dot mac for preview by colleagues. For the last day and a half I have failed in every attempt to publish my revised site. When I try to do it, whether from the menu or publish button, the screen stating "logging in to mac" comes up and then I get a screen titled publish your site to .mac that asks if I am already a member. I am and have been for over two years but when I click sign in and enter my password, which I know to be correct, nothing happens. I have also checked my account info with dot mac and all appears to be current. All other dot mac features that I take advanatge of are working fine. I have version 1.1.2 of iWeb and have not had any other problems with it. I repaired permissions yesterday...Help! I am desperate to publish!

It's strange. There seems to be a rash of publishing problems in the last two days. There has also been a confirmed issue with the .Mac servers within this time period (though it says only "for two hours" on the status page). Unfortunately, the iWeb 1.1.2 update is also very temporally associated to all of this.

If nothing has changed with your setup, then I think it is less likely to be an issue on your end. The best advice that I can give you is to keep trying. If you have the capability, try various internet connections.

I seem to be having the same problem. Some but not all of my changes are updating ( most are not ). I have been working on this for two days now and am pretty frustrated with Apple. I would like to be notified if there is a problem so that I won't keep trying thinking it is me. Also it would be great to somehow know when things are fixed. DREAM on....

Brothers and sisters, I have come out of the darkness and into the light....after 2 1/2 days of trying at literally all hours of day and night (since I figured only a lunatic would be busying the .Mac servers at 2am) I have finally managed to publish to .Mac without the dreaded error message. I am now in love with Apple again - let me hear you all sing Hallelujah. Hope the rest of you can be similarly blessed.

Hello friends,
Something similarly mysterious happened to me, i.e. after three days of desperation (it is a business website that I am launching) the error message disappeared and I am now able to publish without problems. Don't know that I am singing praises and back in love with Apple - but we are dating again. 🙂 Thank you all for taking the time to share your insights and support. Now do I mark this answered? Perhaps there should be an "Act of the Apple gods" option.

Back to church all of ya... this is not over yet. I can also sometimes manage to publish but it is rare. Just when I think that I've found some magic combo of settings and tricks to sort it.... back it comes.

my theory is that Apple dont have enough server capacity to cope with all the switchers and new iLife customers. Pity they are being so obtuse about it.

My other theory is that the company has been infiltrated by reptilian nerds from Mars who are simply **** bent on world domination after they push Apple stock high enough to buy Google.

Well come up with something better then... I am at wits end.

I've just updated my site, and it has taken 2 - 3 days for most of the changes to take effect (I can still see one thing that hasn't been updated). I've got used to this now, and just expect that it will eventually sort itself out. There do seem to be many more problems after iWeb updates, though, so I now generally wait a couple of weeks before updating the software.
Best wishes
