How do you reverse the direction of a build in title?

naw, not exactly: the drop-shadow asks for a gradient fade-out..

That's why the Shadow Effect, which alows other colors than just black, gives this poor result:

You pretty much need Motion to pull that off. If you have Motion, you can right click on the Title and Open a Copy in Motion. Dial open the top Group and find Knock Out. Select it. In the inspector, click on the Properties tab and dial open the Position parameter. Right click on Z and Show in Keyframe Editor. Click in the Keyframe pane and type Command-A to select all the keyframe points. Right click on any of the keyframe points and select Reverse Keyframes.

Save the project (automatically set to save as "Knock Out copy" to the same Category as the original.)

This particular title does not offer many options for customization; in particular, no option for working the other around, as you want.

I can think of a few options for this. The easiest is would be to make the title by itself into a compound clip; but I have just tried it and it does not work, because the blend mode of the text (stencil alpha) does not propagate down inside a compound clip. (If it did, you'd just have to reverse the compound).

Another option is to open a copy in Motion and make changes there. If you have Motion, this will allow you to adjust as you wish.

Yet another easy way may be to "construct" this title yourself right in FCP X.

Isn't it more convenient and in terms of quality plain 'better' to simply export a selected Range in Master file quality and re-import that? 😉
