my 1st generation nano isnt visible on my MacBook Air when I go onto iTunes, any ideas why?

My Music is stored using iTunes Match, does this mean I cannot update the music on my 2nd generation iPod Nano (2006)? The device is no longer recognised when I go into ITunes - help!

What level of itunes are you on? My 2005 IPOD is still recognized by Itunes 11 running on Snow Leopard.

Hazard a guess apple thinks no-one is still using or has functioning old equipment.

I used mine first as a backup disk - then purchased a power stand to play Itunes indoors without carrying it about - so is simply lasting a long time.
