I cannot delete mailboxes from email on my iPad mini or iPad, since the iOS 8.0 update. How can I do this now?

When viewing the mailboxes, is there no blue 'edit' showing at the top? Click edit, then select the mailbox you want to delete & then tap delete mailbox.
Thank you for your answer. Yes, I'm able to go through all the usual steps, but when I tap on the red "Delete Mailbox" it kicks me completely out of email and back to the home page, and the mailbox I tried to delete is still there when I go back into email to see what happened.
That is odd. I just did a test & was able to delete a test mailbox I set up with one email. In the Mailbox you are trying to delete, is there a large email or attachment? If so, try deleting that first then try again. It may be trying to download large emails & crashing when you try to delete because they are not downloaded. When I open some of my mailboxes the spinning wheel takes quite a while to stop.
I thought the same thing as you, that the emails or attachments were too large within the mailbox, but I individually deleted each email and emptied out the mailbox. I then tried to delete the empty mailbox, but it did the same thing and kicked me out to the home page. I have no more ideas. I don't know if Apple tech can help me if I call them.
Have you tried logging into your email from a computer & deleting the mailbox that way? Was the mailbox originally created using Apple's mail app? That may make a difference. Allso there are some mailboxes that can't be deleted
I appreciate your help/ideas on this issue. Tomorrow I am going to use your suggestion of trying to delete from the computer. No, I did not use Apple's mail app to create my mailboxes. (Also, my email is through Yahoo.) You mentioned there are some mailboxes that can't be deleted...which ones are those?
I Meant the stock mailboxes (The ones not created by you that are originally there when you first create your email). I use the Yahoo Mail app & just tried it out, it did allow me to delete a folder I created. Maybe it will work for you too.
Well, I am on the computer looking at my Yahoo email, and from what I see there is no way to delete a mailbox. The trashcan icon only highlights and is usable when I delete individual emails w/in a mailbox. i have looked and clicked every possible place, and cannot delete mailboxes here. Very frustrating.
Please ignore the previous message...it's been a year since I've been in my email on the computer, so I completely forgot about right-clicking on the mouse. That's where the "delete" option was hiding for the mailboxes. Using touch iPads for over a year caused me to forget the functions of the computer, but I figured it out. I'll delete all the mailboxes I want to on the computer, and then check my iPads. Thanks!
