Yahoo mail is slowed to a crawl in Safari 8.0.3.

I click on anything in Yahoo mail and it takes a few minutes for it to react. Firefox and chrome don't have this problem.
I had apple support helping me last week, as this i7 quad core macbook pro was as slow as my G4. We reloaded the OS, cleaned out all the cashes and such, it was ok for a few days, and now this. Also, Safari sometimes goes wonky, and part of the browser window with flash and look like a Windows display that has had the settings out side of what it can handle.

At this point, if it wasn't for some of the software that only Apple has, I would sell this thing and go back to windows. I've been using mac since 2001.

Thank you for posting this. I have exactly the same issue. I could not find any commentary online about it, even after looking for a week (I could not believe I was the only one with the issue). After working with an IT Specialist, there was no solution, except to download Firefox or to work in Mac Mail. Both of these work-arounds had other issues associated with them. The Mac Mail stopped synchronizing with Yahoo Mail and I could not close tabs in Firefox (I had to physically shut down my computer twice). I happened to go into Yahoo Mail yesterday (03/13/15) and noticed that it seemed to be working now. So maybe the issue is fixed, but I am still surprised and frustrated that there doesn't appear to be any mention of it on the entire internet, except for your comment.

Without any other information to go on, I am thinking that this may have something to do with upgrading to Yosemite. Since I upgraded to Yosemite last year, I have had many unexplainable issues and problems with my Mac that never occurred before. It has crashed more since I upgraded (a few months) than all the time I've had it (since 2011). I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, but would rather go back to Mavericks. I cannot do that; however, because the Time Machine only had back-ups for a little over a week (another issue that showed up after the upgrade - it used to have well over a year of back-ups). I hear that Yosemite works well for computers with a solid state drive, but I do not have that.

NOTE: When I found your comment by searching in Yahoo, I created a user ID in Apple Support Communities so I could comment on it. Then I could not find the comment again by any search I tried in Apple Support Communities. I had to go back to Yahoo to find it again. I am saying this so this issue can be addressed (because there may be answers in the community that cannot be found).

If you reset safari -- it repopulates Top Sites -- Top Sites are refreshed when you open Safari on the internet (latest page brought in). If you do not use top sites or have not reviewed them - do so and delete any sites you do not want - or delete them all.

Top sites also populate on their own - so you do have to check them regularly or Safari will slow down to a crawl.

Did send feedback to Apple every-time I had to force quit.

E-mail was also a problem synchronizing with Apple mail because Apple mail is defaulted to keep the mail on their server until you specifically delete it - that meant that it had to synchronize to the deleted folder before you could erase all deleted e-mails.

How do I reset Safari? I have gone to Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Remove All Website Data and removed cookies and History several times (I usually do this weekly or whenever I notice issues). It seems that I remember a place to "Reset Safari", but I cannot locate it. If you mean "resetting" is the same as clearing cookies, cache, and history; I always do that (along with restarts) before I call anyone or consider anything an "issue".

Mine started to work properly the other day as well. I think that Apple knew about the problem, contacted Yahoo, and they did a fix with out letting anyone know. "Oh, it must have been something you were doing". I have been using apple computers since 2001, and this is the first time I have considered selling it, and going back to windows. I have a friend with a windows laptop with the same specs as this one, and it is lightning fast. I am totally unimpressed with this laptop.

I agree with you. I was torn between Apple and Windows for some time after 2010. Until then, I had only used Windows products, but their changes kept limiting choices (especially in Microsoft Office). I was told that Apple didn't have the same problems, but I was concerned about software compatibility. I went with Apple in 2011 and immediately had to install Parallels with Windows 2007 to be able to work with some websites and software.

It's been a constant learning curve, but overall I have found there are things Apple does that are far superior to Windows and vice versa (things Windows does that are far superior to Apple). Since most of the websites and software I need to use are only compatible with Windows, I'm pretty sure my next computer will be Windows based (but I will still keep my Apple).

I still wasn't sure until this last upgrade to Yosemite. At that point, Apple lost all of its appeal for me. This computer used to boot up in seconds. After Yosemite, it takes a couple minutes. When I called Apple, they said to go get a cup of coffee while it boots up. Yosemite seems to only work properly on computers with solid state hard drives. Other than that, Apple should not have released it.

I had been having problems with Yahoo mail for the last 2 weeks until last night. After doing an Adobe Flash Player update sent auto from Adobe my Yahoo email returned to normal. Coincidence or does Yahoo use flash player with their email? Had buttons (delete, spam, trash, files, link, upload images, etc) that were extremely slow but all has returned to full functionality. Had to wait 30 sec to 1 min for most of the buttons to engage since March 1. Very frustrating and glad it is back to normal.

Stevenjv,

Just wondering, were you using Safari for your browser? When I had problems, I noticed that Yahoo Mail was sluggish (to the point of not working) if Safari was my browser. It worked at regular speed with Firefox. Also, since I have Windows installed on a virtual machine through Parallels, I tried Yahoo Mail on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. It seemed to work fine. It appeared to only have issues with Safari. However, It had worked fine with Safari for several years ("fine" is a relative term, since Yahoo has done some strange things with its email interface over the years).

Anyway, thanks to everyone for posting. I will try to make it a habit in the future, as well, so everyone can stay informed.

Fubar4now….Yes, I was using Safari 8.0.3 and MacOSX10.10.2. I really had no problems with Safari and Yahoo prior to March 1. Yahoo has no real customer support (no phone #, no online help) but Yahoo Answers>Mail>Notices and Errors had a thread running on this very subject that seemed to affect a lot of other Mac/Safari users. After 3 days of wondering what was wrong with my email I stumbled across the thread. One Yahoo employee had responded on the thread acknowledging the Yahoo/Safari problem.
