Does the SIM card determine the gbs

I Got an iPhone 5c for my birthday and it was only 8gbs on it and I don't have enough space to have all of my photos and music so does the sim card determine how many gbs are on my phone

No, the SIM Card simply contains information regarding your account with your cellular provider. Storage on the iPhone can not be upgraded.

Go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage... You should see what eating up all your storage.

For your photos and videos, I strongly recommend you to use 3rd party services such as Box.net, Google Drive or DropBox
