Q: cannot sign into icloud iphone 5

I am trying to sort my icloud back up before changing my phone but my icloud keeps bringing my old email address up and will not let me change the password to sign in? I have changed the password giving my new email address but this is not making any difference?

To resolve this issue where you're being prompted to enter in the password for your previous Apple ID, please follow the directions in the article below.

If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
