No Bootable Device...Insert Boot Disk and Press any Key

Hello-

Trying to install Windows 8.1 Pro on external Thunderbolt drive (LaCie Rugged SSD)

Created Bootcamp partition on INTERNAL Mac drive. Installed Windows 8.1 Pro using DVD install disk.

Moved INTERNAL partition to external Thunderbolt drive with Winclone Pro v4.4.

Booted into Windows one time, created a user account, etc. Today I'm getting the error message: No bootable device...insert boot disk and press any key.

Can't figure it out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Have spent hours trying to solve it.

Can you post the output of the following commands? Please pick the 'N' which points to the correct external disk.

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/diskN

sudo fdisk /dev/diskN

Thanks for trying to help.

In those Terminal commands, do I leave the word "disk" and replace "N" with the drive name? Is it the drive name or number? And if it's the number where can I find that?!

'N' is a digit/number which corresponds to the output when the USB is plugged in and you run diskutil list command.

Thanks for trying and for following up. I've actually given up on the idea after I got Windows working on my internal drive. It serves my purpose since my main Mac boot drive is external.
