Q: Displayport to HDMI on second display

I installed a displayport to HDMI cable from my Late 2013 27" iMac to my 24" secondary display. On reboot the secondary display worked fine. When the iMac went to sleep and then was awaken the secondary display did not work. What do I have to do to get this second display to awake after sleep using HDMI? By the way it works fine with DVI.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), Other OS, 16gb RAM

It was helpful, but the problem seems to reappear after a few sleep cycles. I will reset the SMC.
