Where is Printer Setup Utility ???

I have 10.6.8 and have been messing for hours trying to get printer drivers loaded into Printer Setup Utility and can not find it anywhere.

Epson manual says it is in Utilities and I do not see it there. Have re started several times after installing Epson drivers and firmware update for 7880 - 24 " Pro printer.

Can't get any Page Setup dialog in the FILE menu where you get Print and Print One Copy, but can't get Page Setup?

Where is Printer Setup Utility???

General Question: Please tell me if anyone believes there is a conspriacy to keep people in constant run around with every new thing one trys to add to these insane machines?

Thanks, Woody

It sounds like you deleted important software. One last ditch chance to save it is to go to the Printer settings under Apple menu -> System preferences. If that doesn't launch the Print Setup Utility, then you have an improper install.

Note, to restore the applications, you'll want to install the version of 10.6 that installed 10.6 on your machine initially, without erasing the data, and apply the 10.6.8 combo and any 10.6 security updates after that. Backup your data before you do.

Pre-March 15, 2010 Macs can use the retail version of 10.6 from the Apple online mail order store. Newer Macs must use the 10.6 installer disc specific to the Mac that shipped with it, which if lost is only available through AppleCare by giving them the serial number of your machine.

Some things to remember, do not install system cache cleaning software as this can permanently disable launching ability of System Preferences and many Apple applications. The only maintenance software Macs need is a backup. If you installed MacKeeper, read this tip:

Etrecheck may be able to detect other inconsistencies in your installation, if you run it and post its results. Please post to the right forum. 10.3 and earlier people normally don't know what 10.6 is about:

To All Mac'rs,

Spent near 3 hours with a Tech Rep from Epson and we got the software and firmware in correctly(after several tries), found printers folder in Library, but never a Printer Setup Utility. The Espson Rep working hard for that long would seem to indicate that these darn computers are maybe passing a point where we serve them rather than they serve us.

Lots of good info about installing the versions and what to watch for,.... thanks for responding.

Glad I got onto Apple help forum for the future.
