Q: sending iMessage from my number versus email account

Every time i send a iMessage out, the receiver says its coming from my email address. How can i change it so that people will receive iMessages from my phone number versus my email?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3

If you phone number is not listed (or not checked in the top portion), go back one screen to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage off and back on so it can reactivate your number.

 

If you have continued issues activating your number, follow this article.  You may need to contact your carrier.  If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
