Updating music issue with iTouch 5?

I tried to put some new songs on my itouch last night but they wouldn't transfer properly (they just came up grey with the dashed circle) so i tried restarting itunes and unplugging my ipod and putting it back in, and nothing worked. I tried one last time but it did the same so i cancelled the update bar because it just wouldn't do anything and i had to leave.

Now all of my songs on the ipod are unplayable on the device itself, they all have the pink stop symbol next to them, but i can play them from the device on itunes? The progress bar for updating files on the device is there but it's just stuck on 'preparing to update' and won't change?

Please help 😟

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync/delete all music and resync

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
