Can I use the same HDMI cable that connects my HDTV to the DVD Player, by switching the cable to the Apple TV Box and back to the DVD Player when I want to watch a DVD?

You can but depending on how often you need to switch the cable you could cause problems with the connector.

If your TV only has the one HDMI input (or else the others are in use) you could look into getting an HDMI switch. Basically the HDMI impute port on the TV would connect to the HDMI output on the switch and the Apple TV and DVD players would connect to the inputs on the switch. Then you would use the switch to select which device you want connected to the TV. No need to mess with the cable.

Google HDMI switch to locate a device that fits your needs and budget.
