IOS 8.2 dictation fails in Safari, press Done and text disappears.

IOS 8.2 bug. Dictation text disappears when you press "Done" while in Safari. A work around is to press the webpage twice instead of "Done".

if you speak, too long, Dictate will timeout and all of the text will still disappear. Dictation still works in Notes and iMessage. Occurred on an iPad with retina display. This did not occur before 8.2.

OMG this is a huge bug with 8.2. I'm glad I was not the only one because I couldn't quite believe it. I've found dictation no longer possible on forms and even my web based email no longer works. When you stop dictating all you just dictated vanishes.

All this worked fine before the 8.2 update.

The work-arounds are not practical. I can only hope Apple rush out a bug fix for this, and it's pretty amazing they could have broken something so serious (basically all dictation on websites and web-based apps no longer works) and not discovered this before the 8.2 release. Really amazing.

I have AppleCare and called to report this. I was moved up the chain quickly to a nice fella named Dave who was a Senior Support Specialist. He recreated the problem in his support lab and wrote up an official "impact" report to submit to the engineers.

I also identified this to be a problem on the iPhone as well but Dave found a different work around on the iPhone that is NOT available on the iPad.

On the iPhone....a small blue text Done button appears on the right hand side of the light gray bar that runs across the large gray Done button box.

If you tap that small blue Done button, your text stays and it works normally.....the larger gray Done button exhibits the exact same behavior as the iPad and erases dictated text.

Unfortunately, the iPad does NOT have that small blue text additional done button so you must use the work arounds suggested above.
