Question: Ipod Nano Keeps asking to format!!

You need to install MacDrive on the PC before you can use Mac formatted disks with it, as Windows does not contain the software needed to read local Mac disks.

Yes, each PC you want to use a Mac formatted iPod with needs to have MacDrive or another product with that capability installed. If you want some but not all of the disk to be in the Mac OS Extended format, place the iPod in the PC format and use the Disk Copy or Disk Utility applications to create a blank disk image and store it on the iPod. These applications can be found in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder; Disk Copy's functions were moved into the Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.3.

Can i just use PC format and then can i also use it as a Disk Drive on Mac. It seems like u can do PC-MAC Drive. but not MAC-PC. am i correct?

You can update the songs on a Windows formatted iPod from a Mac; updating the iPod's firmware without doing a restore on the Mac won't work except for the iPod shuffles.

hey i think i might have a simular question...i guess
anyway, when i update, or sync or whatever, when it's done, my iPod Nano says "do not disconnect" even when it's done...
im confused. is there something wrong with it, or is it just taking an eternity to sync? actually, i disconnect it, and its updated...know what the problem is by any chance?

If you have set the iPod to manage music manually or enabled disk use for it, it will not disconnect from iTunes on its own; you need to eject it manually.
