People say I must drag it near the trash can, but that just puts it past that barrier. I am trying to get it back to where it disappeared from, on the left hand side near the finder icon. more

Mar 10, 2015 7:06 AM in response to JanePiperby Matt Clifton,With respect, you actually cannot store folders on the left side of the Dock - only on the right side. I wonder if you're talking about Launchpad, which looks like a silver rocket and shows you your installed applications? It's not actually a shortcut to the Applications folder, though. You can certainly drag Launchpad into the left side of the Dock from the Applications folder.

Mar 10, 2015 8:27 AM in response to Matt Cliftonby JanePiper,YES! This exactly what I am talking about - the Launchpad. It has disappeared, can you help me get it back onto my Dock? Sorry for my ignorance, new to the whole Mac thing...

Mar 10, 2015 8:36 AM in response to JanePiperby Matt Clifton,No problem! Click on the Finder, which will open a new Finder window. If it doesn't, go to the Finder menu (very top left of the screen) and click File - New Finder Window. In that window, there should be a shortcut on the left to Applications. (If not, post back and I'll show you how to get it.) Click into Applications, locate Launchpad and drag it into the Dock.
