Export iPhoto videos and pictures to external hard drive

I've tried exporting my 350 GB of video and pictures in iPhoto through file > export > original files. All the pictures went successfully, however, all the videos had an error. not transfer. They got an error message. I then made a smart album and entered with "filename" then. ".mov". Then tried to export all my videos fromt hat folder, didn't work. Got the same error message. I can expoert just one video, but I have 1,100 videos to do... that wouldn't be much fun to do each separately. Any ideas how to export a batch of movies from iPhoto... to a file so I can put them on an external hard drive?

In stead of taking out the videos and pictures from iPhoto, I then tried to copy the entire iPhoto library to my external hard drive... it didn't work... I got this error...

I'm a bit frustrated. Maybe I should have never used iPhoto. It's impossible to get big batches of videos out when you computer memories full!.

I welcome any ideas you have!

Thanks,

Do these videos play normally in iPhoto?

Have you tried exporting in batches? If your disk is full this could be a way around the issue.

if your HD is full wouldn't be easier to just move the Library?

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

1. Quit iPhoto

2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.

3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.

4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Terence, thanks for your reply.

1. I tried copy the entire iPhoto Library to the External Hard drive. Didn't work gave me this error...

2. Then I tried exporting small batches of videos from iPhoto to external hard drive. Didn't work. The videos did transfer, but not of the actual footage made it. The duration time was 00.00. See snap shot below. IT looks like it moved, but really it didn't. Yes the files play fine in iPhoto, no errors and I can view them and play no problem.

3. I reallllly want to get these video clips moved off my computer on to a external drive 😟 I have a bunch of family video shots of my babies that are taking up way to much room on my lab top.

Any other ideas? Appreciate your help.
