iTunes Radio Automatically Skips through Songs

When listening to iTunes Radio through my AppleTV 3, iPhone 6, iPad 3, and iMac 2013 iTunes Radio will just start skipping through songs. The current song plays through to the end, but then starts scanning through 20-30+ songs before playing the same song that just played. This happens on every station I have created, and also on the suggested featured stations.

This just started yesterday after updating to iOS 8.2. I logged out of iTunes on all devices and signed back in, but the problem persisted. I also rebooted all devices with still no luck. My Husband is also having the same issue on his iPhone 5 and iPad 3 under a different iTunes account.

I happened to be out of Wifi range on my iPhone and tried iTunes Radio and surprisingly the skipping stopped. The minute I got back into Wifi range the skipping would start up again after the current song ends. So it seems like it has something to do with my Wifi which are run off of an AirPort Time Capsule and Extreme (all up to date). I rebooted my modem and AirPort’s thinking there was some weird config issue, but the skipping was still happening. I have not changed anything with my internet provider and have more than enough bandwidth.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix or further troubleshoot?

I'm having the same problem. I don't think its a problem with iOS 8.2 per se because it its doing it on OS X 10.10.2 iTunes too. I also have an iPhone 6 on 8.1.3 doing the same thing as well.

I did some fairly exhaustive testing with this last night and found its related to my ISP. Thinking it was my AEBS, I bypassed it by plugging my computer directly into the cable modem. I still had the problem. Additionally, this problem goes away when running iTunes radio from my work wifi.

This is very annoying and I hope we find a fix.

Good point on this probably not being a iOS 8.2 issue as I too am having the same issue on OS X 10.10.2 as well. I did some more troubleshooting last night as well, but didn't think of trying bypassing my Time Capsule and plug directly into the modem. I'll check that out when I get home. I still had the same problem even after doing a hard reset of my wireless network. Who is your ISP? Mine is through Cox.

Hmmm, Cox must be blocking something. I'll try to call them when I get home, but I don't have high hopes dealing with them.

I also found another thread talking about the same issue.

"I already contacted apple about this and the persons that helped me told me they took the matter up to the engineering department. So now I'm just waiting on a reply back. Hopefully, they can get this fixed up."

iTunes match and iTunes radio skips songs on wifi

Yeah I called them too so you wouldn't be the only one with the problem on their radar 😁. We ran through the same routine of resetting the modem. They said they could be blocking a port but he wasn't sure about it. Gave me the number of Cox home networking 855-766-9812. I'll maybe give them a ring but I really don't know at this point. Problem is, I have no idea what port iTunes Radio uses. I have Wireshark here so I might try sniffing a packet or two to see if can find out. Very weird since it is not happening on my Verizon LTE connection nor my connection at work, only through Cox home internet.
