Is 512GB enough?
I am a photographer shooting RAW and wanted some real world advice from MBP users out there, as I am just about to buy a new MBP. Is 512GB enough or should I pay extra for the 1TB, or rely on external hard drives?

Buy what you can afford built-in, using external HD is cheaper for storage and backups.
How big is your bank account? There are no third party SSDs for the current crop of MBPs available at the present. That extra $500n is tough to swallow but if you are in a vocational situation it may pay in the long run. When in portable mode, that external drive becomes very old very soon.
Ciao.
512GB is a huge amount of space. I have hundreds of RAW images on mine and have still got loads of room.
I also have a couple of external drives for backup purposes. The images I have on these aren't accessed very often, so drive speed isn't an issue.
They're fast enough on the odd occasion when I do look at the photos on them.
Do you really need all of your images on your MBP at the same time?
