iPhone bluetooth streaming problems with UConnect 130s/RES? (2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited)

I bought a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in October and it has a UConnect 130s/RES radio receiver that is supposed to support bluetooth audio streaming and USB connection for iPod / iPhone. The bluetooth skips, stutters, and cuts out - its just awful. The USB connection in the center console does not connect to my iPhone 6 at all. UConnect claims that iOS 8 is not supported and said I would have to wait for a firmware update that would resolve the issue. Has anyone else had this problem?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.2

I was streaming music over iTunes Match and having this issue, switched to streaming over Spotify and no longer have this issue. I don't know much about bluteooth, but it seems like iTunes Match on an iPhone and UConnect BT are using the same 'signal' or 'band' (?) and its causing interference.

In your car, iTunes Match uses your cell signal or wifi, not Bluetooth.

switched to streaming over Spotify

Spotify is an app, not a streaming protocol. You aren't "streaming over Spotify".

You mean you quit using iTunes Match and just use Spotify for your music?

utterly fantastic response, thank you for your wealth of knowledge, BRO... I know spotify is an app... Not streaming OVER spotify, just streaming Spotify... Now, why does spotify stream just fine at 320kbps but iTunes match causes this problem? ITunes Match works just fine with my Bluetooth jambox, but my uconnect headunit will not stream it without skipping

look, I wasn't looking for an education in the proper vernacular... I was simply trying to explain that it happens when using iTunes match, and not when I use Spotify... If you're going to have any input on this at all, I don't mind you explaining to me what an app is vs protocol, but maybe follow up with something of value... Like maybe why one works vs the other... Or a solution that could solve the issue I'm experiencing, because knowing what an app is vs protocol doesn't solve my problem... Oh, and I can't stop sayin bro... Bro

Same issues here since the latest update on my 6S in my ’15 Wrangler Sport, even while testing all the betas I never ran into this issue. I’ve noticed that if you’re connected via USB and try to utilize the bluetooth, wether it be for streaming audio, or doing handsfree calling you’ll run into the issues. It seems the head unit (ever since the latest update for some odd reason) has become extremely particular how it lets you use the bluetooth. Happened to me today actually, was streaming audio through a usb connection and had to take a call and it dropped my call back to the headset and disconnected my bluetooth altogether.

If you stream all audio via bluetooth, you more than likely won’t have anymore issues. But if you want a direct connection through the cable, then you’re more than likely going to be SOL using bluetooth for anything. If you use a direct connection and have your notifications turned on it won’t even sound unless you’re using bluetooth. I use an Escort Radar application while driving, and unless I’m using bluetooth I won’t hear any notifications of speed traps/live police alerts come through. Just subdued audio for the duration of where the chime should’ve been.

And as far as certain apps only using bluetooth and nothing else, I actually had the same issue using Spotify in my last Chevy truck. I wanted a direct connection, but it would only play via bluetooth. So I cancelled my subscription and went back to Apple Music because it played how I wanted it to when connected. This may help some of you, and it may not. Either way, best of luck.
