Q: Downloading accessory firmware in IOS 8.2

I'm have the same issue with my iPad (MD512LL/A) But my iPhone (5s, ios8.2) does not. Using the same cable.

Try resetting the iPhone by holding down the home and power/sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds or until the Apple logo shows up.

Then plug the adapter back into the phone.

For what its worth both my iPhone 6 and iPhone 5 on iOS 8.2 work fine with the Digital Av adapter and my 50" Sony Tv

And there´s no way to downgrade iOS versions.

You don't want to do that. The jailbreak will cause your iPhone to be insecure and unreliable.

Also asking for that here is grounds to get your post deleted.

Jailbreaking cannot be discussed here. It will void your warranty, and forfeit any support from Apple.

With that said, The next step would be to restore the iPad. Though not sure why this is in the iPhone forum then.

I am having the same problem. I get the error message just by plugging in the adapter even though the adapter is not connected to a projector. Someone suggested that this error occurs only with generic adapters, but I'm using an "official" Apple adapter, so that's not it, either. It worked fine hours before I updated to 8.2.

I too am having this problem, with both my iPad and iPhone and iOS 8.2. I am using a genuine Apple HDMI to Lightning adapter and good quality HDMI cables.  At first I thought it might be my projector, but have just tried hooking up my iPad to my TV, I am still getting the error message about Firmware.  I have a big presentation this weekend and am more than a little upset that this latest Apple update has meant I can't use my iPhone or iPad.  Lets hope Apple pushes out a fix very, very quickly!!!

I don't need or want the Apple Watch app, but do need my iPhone and iPad to work using an HDMI cable!!!

I have had the same problem with my HDMI to Lightning connector not working after updating to iOS 8.2.  Here is what solved the problem for me.

I did a complete restore on my iPad and iPhone using iTunes.  Literally  this takes them back to Factory!  Next time I won't do it over wifi though, as ethernet would be faster.  It took about 4 hours each, but they are working fine now.

All I can say is give it a try.  It solved the problem for me.
