    Hi...!!

$700 sounds a pretty good deal for a 17 inch macbook pro with the above mentioned specifications. Also, the number of software you will be getting preinstalled with the mac are really icing on the cake. Are you planning to buy it refurbished or is it a second hand macbook...?? I would not mind if its any of these until and unless its in mint condition and working flawlessly. Its a good choice really.

Dude, but do you really think you can survive with a machine installed with a 4 GB of RAM that to for Video editing or photo editing...?? You must be kidding man. Also, 4 GB of RAM isn’t sufficient these days unless your using older OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. If your planning to use the latest  Yosemite OS X 10.10 then forget about your machine because it will soon choke up and die with the 4 GB RAM because Yosemite is a RAM hog

When it comes to processor, the 2.4 Ghz core 2 duo is somewhat OK with todays standard but don’t expect it to run any heavy Video editing software as it would slow down your machine. This processor is fine enough for doing photo editing.

You forgot to mention the GPU specifications. What graphic card will it be coming with..?? If its an ordinary Intel HD 4000 series then you need to upgrade your graphic card to some discrete AMD or Nvidia if your intentions are Video editing or Photo editing.

By the way, what OS will come preinstalled with the macbook and what OS do you personally intend to run on this machine...?? "I would strongly recommend you  to stay miles away from Yosemite as its full of bugs and go with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion as its a very stable OS." You won’t get Mavericks at this point of time as it is no longer available.

My only suggestion for you is that "Get this macbook but please upgrade the RAM to at least 8 GB for future proofing as the applications are getting RAM hungry these days."

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Granel.

There's an awful lot of pirated software on that machine... how secure will your data be?

If you're editing video... 4 gigs of Ram isn't great.

What version of OS X? Strange that it doesn't mention that.

*Rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

My suggestion is to pay nothing until you actually see it work.

As Terence pointed out it sounds too good to be true.  I would not get it unless I had physical access to it and could confirm that  it was prepared for resale according to this Apple document: What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support

If it's not prepared according to that document you will have problems down the line with system and software updates.

You guys scared me away...   I'm not a big techy.  So, I thought it was best to stay away from THAT particular purchase.  I'm just trying to find a deal on a turnkey MacBook Pro so that I can use for small - medium film editing projects that I produce.   Weighing my options trying to find a more reputable source for for the purchase.  Not trying to break the bank, but, definitely trying to meet my needs.

    Thanks for the follow up.

Take a look at the Apple store under refurbished Macs. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac   They have the same warranty as new ones but are lower in price.  For editing video I'd want as large a monitor screen as possible, thus an iMac 21 or 27 model.

In regards to adding extra memory to Macs it's very simple and there are easy to follow instructions for each Mac model that allow users to install RAMS.  iMac: How to remove or install memory - Apple Support
