Mar 3, 2016 9:23 AM in response to ElvaXiaoby dianjos,ELVAXIAO: you tried thar restore and it worked after? I RESTORED mine but I don't think it was to FACTORY SETTINGS and the memory continues do disappear. One thing for sure , We have Had our Iphones for a long time, with whatsapp and other Apps...IF memory would run out we would link our phone to the computer Itunes and transfer all pictures, erase some old Apps if necessary to get space right? I've done this sometimes and never noticed what started to happen 3 days ago!!! For me this is VERY RECENT! I had the iphone software updated before and didnt have this problem...is it a Bug from Whatsapp? I dont know but i havent updated whatsapp in some months and it says it has its last version...In my case its something recent and i havent downloaded any apps recently. Can it be a virus?

Mar 3, 2016 9:38 AM in response to Sbyrne1984by Vishalmattoo,Guys,
I followed the advise from one of the members and removed WhatsApp. Immediately I got all my lost storage back. From zero to 5.1GB and I don't believe Whatsapp photos/videos would actually had taken this much amount. So it is certainly some software compatibility issue between whatsapp and IOS 9.2.1.
I am frequent whatsApp user but cant install it back as issue will re-surface. Is anybody in Apple looking into it, pleeeeeeease
Regards
Vishal

Mar 3, 2016 11:56 AM in response to Sbyrne1984by jesspb9,I don't know if this will help anyone but I was about to restore my phone from a back up (like i did last night when this problem started) but when I clicked "Back up now" before my eyes I saw the space jump from 0 available to 4GB free space! So maybe if you can, as a temporary solution, just try back up your phone? Sounds like the problem is being caused by Whatsapp though (the update came through on 28th Feb). And whatsapp keeps telling me it can't receive messages as storage is almost full and when it's "full" whatsapp won't even open.

Mar 3, 2016 3:36 PM in response to dianjosby ahsan_saadat,I've been hit by the same bug. 30 mins earlier my phone was working fine with 30gb of available space and 30 mins later there's 30.36gb of Documents & Data (as my iTunes show), if anybody has any luck with it please share. A friend of mine is also going crazy about the given issue. Although I have yet to delete stuff and start working for a solution myself I thought to check out communities before messing up all the data in my phone.

It's a bug in whatsapp. Go complain to them. Until they fix it, delete the app.

Mar 3, 2016 3:46 PM in response to ahsan_saadatby Dirkiboy25,Whatsapp is causing storage problems ver.2.12.14, IOS 9.2.1
I hear that the best thing to do is to make a back-up of your chat history in whatsapp, delete whatsapp, reinstall it and reset it with the backup you just made.

Mar 3, 2016 3:57 PM in response to Dirkiboy25by ahsan_saadat,I can't even backup my chat history. The error states that I need more storage to create an iCloud backup (about 1 GB of it). Whereas I have 209 MB left. This is ridiculous. Bought an iPhone Plus 64 GB so I don't have space issues and this happened.

Mar 3, 2016 10:49 PM in response to Sbyrne1984by timsya,I have the same problem. However, mine is a 16GB iPhone 6s Plus with abt 1GB of memory left before i upgraded to Version 2.12.14. After the update, the same problem started. It went down to 0 bytes and couldn't open Whatsapp at all. So I started deleting a few videos and pictures here and there to get back a few hundred MB. By sending one or two Whatsapp messages, it immediately went down to 0 bytes. Killed the app, shutdown phone and still 0 bytes. Deleted all my songs. Got back 2GB. After awhile, that was gone too. Before it went down to 0 bytes again, I backed-up the chats to icloud, delete Whatsapp, shutdown fon and got back my 4GB. Installed Whatsapp again and restored chats. Memory went down to 2GB and shortly after that, it was 0 bytes again!! Deleted whatever useless apps I had and that only got me a few miserable hundred MB. After awhile that was gone too. And now i am back at 0 bytes and can't do a **** thing about it!! Version 2.12.14 ***** big time!!!

Mar 4, 2016 5:49 AM in response to Sbyrne1984by JC-FL,I agree that is the Whatsapp application causing the issue, yesterday morning I had 113 MB of storage left, caled apple and they told me to transfer my picutres so I did, freed up 2.3GB and went to sleep woke up to 210MB of storage.
Now after uninstalling whatsapp not only I recovered the 2.3GB but I recovered 6.9GB, so whatsapp was "eating up" more than I thought, I also couldn't do a back-up of my convos, but no worries there, as I delete most my conversations anyways, re-installed whatsapp and the count went to 6.8GB which makes sense since the app is about 700 n some Mb. But really!!! 6.9Gb of data released just from Whatsapp, either whatsapp and/orapple need to get in line with their integrations. Just wanted to share the Whatsapp uninstall/install does WORK!!! Let everyone who has an iphone among friends and family know of the issue and even if it wasn't ophoone this could be a multi-plattform issue.
Have a great day.

Mar 4, 2016 6:52 AM in response to Sbyrne1984by Alexis1344,I have found a temporary solution (that works so far) without having to remove whatsapp or restore your phone.
On whatsapp go into the settings and hit the 'storage' button. After it takes a few moments to optimise whatsapp my memory (missing 2.8gb) came back.
Not sure if this is going to last because the memory has already dropped to 2.6gb but at least I can see all my free memory now. If the problem persists I am going to backup whatsapp chats to icloud and delete/restore the App.
Hope this helps. Alex.
