Q: Is new 12 inch MB compatible with thunderbolt display??

so how will I be able to use my Thunderbolt display (currently used with a 2011 MBA) with the new 12 inch MB (just announced)? My thunderbolt display is a 2011 model

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

    You won't. The 2015 MacBook does not have Thunderbolt. If you want to upgrade from your Air, get another Air or a Pro.

    thanks Matt - not even with adaptors? Is it that the actually AV o/t is TB only?

    Problem is a love the new MB and it fits my requirements really well (I travel a lot and don't need massive processor grunt)

    Any monitors you'd recommend for the MB?  Guess next generation apple display will be USB-C compliant

    Any HDMI or VGA monitor should work - I don't know whether it will span desktops or only mirror to an external, though.

     

    Thunderbolt requires a direct connection to the PCIe bus of the logic board, that's where the speed comes from. It can't travel over USB.
